Four Billion years ago when our Mother Earth was still very young and warm, she had her first child. It was single cell animals called Prokaryotes. Since then the Earth has changed much and so had her children. Planet Earth now teems with millions of life forms from giant Blue whales to tiniest Bacteria & Virus. This story of life on Earth is a long one with repeated cycles of death and life time and again. The great Oxygenation event 2.4 Billion years ago,Cambrian explosion of life and death, the The Ordovician, Devonian,Permian, Triassic, Cretaceous & Holocene extinctions ,Tertiary- Quaternary discontinuity of life cycle particularly the mass extinction of Dinosaurs 65 million years ago all have the same story of death followed by fresh life. These violent disruption of nature and life were always due to natural reasons ,precisely due to natural environmental pollution. Today the Mother earth is facing once again the same perennial possibility of mass extermination of life due to once again the same menace of environmental pollution. However this time the danger has one major exception- for the first time the life on Earth is being under threat by a cause which is not external. The holocaust is going to be due to one member of planetary life itself - us, the humans. . Yes indeed , the scenario is ringing the death knell for all due to anthropogenic causes. Man made pollution--malevolent activities related to agriculture,domestic, civic & industrial sectors is contaminating , disturbing and killing air, water , soil, the Ozone layer, the Thermal equilibrium of our planet and almost every system that supports life . The sources of this menace called pollution are spread-ed all over the world--- be it your backyard or the distant Mount Everest or in the depths of the world's oceans.The sordid fact is that we all are responsible traditionally, historically and currently. and we all should all act to save the day now , without any delay. As it is said THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY , we must follow it and every action will pay consummately , as we are part of one single web of Life found so far only on our beloved Earth and nowhere else in the Universe........and that makes us the Cosmic Orphan , perhaps the only bearer of an advanced life form adrift on this unique spaceship earth. It must not be lost.
